ESL Free Time and Leisure Vocabulary – Charts and Flash Cards in English

The vocabulary that appears on the main wall chart is: watch TV, go to the movies, go to the cinema, play video games, listen to music, read, surf the internet, paint, dance, study, play an instrument, go shopping, do sport, play sport, spend time with the family, go out with friends, play with friends.

Each of the phrases above is demonstrated with a cartoon representing that action.

Notice: Due to regional differences (US vs British English) there are two versions of two of the activities. Go to the movies / Go to the cinema, and Play sport / Do sport.

BONUS: Each Free Time activity is on its own A4 size page. There are two additional pages, one with the words “Free Time” and another page that has a bubble which says: What do you do in your free time?

These wall charts are perfect for decorating the ESL classroom. You may also want to laminate each cartoon chart and use them as large flashcards. Some teachers also photocopy these and make a booklet for students.
